Speeches!
Last week was Speeches. The topic had to be a about a changemaker, I choose Henry Ford. I choose Henry for because he created the Mass production of the Assembly line to build an Automobile. He also dropped the price for his vehicles and founded ford motors. Surprisingly I made it to the Speech Finals which is on Monday.
Over the weekend I didn't have much time to practise because I had reps on and we had to travel to palmerston north to play against them in soccer. On the day I was pretty nervous but in the end I think my speech turned out pretty good. I didn't end up winning but the after the speeches the Judge said there was most popular bird of the year and we got to say our bird on the radio. I choose a Tui.

Last Term!!!
This term I hope will be very exciting because we have quite a few things on this term. Also it is my last term at primary school so I hope it will be fun.
This week we had athletics training after lunch for half an hour each training. Yesterday we did high jump and long jump. Our school athletics is in week 3 on Tuesday and I am looking looking forward to it. Also in week three is Speeches on Wednesday. Next week is year 6 camp for four days while the year fives have school. Since there aren't many year sixes this year instead of going to camp Kaitawa we are going to Hastings/Napier for camp.
In week 5 will be the craft fair and I hope I will be able to go. For project based learning we will be painting murals around the school in either groups of three or five. Also the kapa haka festival is in week 6 and we have to do training every morning when it isn't raining except for Friday.

Pihitia Station trip
Just yesterday we went to Tristin's Dad's farm and they gave us a tour of the place. The first place my group went to was what farm vehicles they would use on a farm. There in front was a tractor, a motorbike, a quad bike and a truck. One of the people who came to help explained about what they used them for. Also, we got to see a drone flying around checking the farm in case of emergencies. After that, we watched what weighed the sheep and how you could tell their age. They could could tell their age by their 2 front teeth and how big they were. To weigh the sheep it would stand on a metal platform and weigh it in kg's if it went green it meant it would be going to the freezing works.
Then we got to see a few Sheep Dogs. Ones name was Cruise and other I forgot. Cruise was loud and the other dog was quiet. They do what you ask by doing certain whistles. Then we saw some people shear a sheep and show us how much it would cost for different parts of wool. Also, they showed us few things of what wool could create like jackets, socks, beanies and even a surfboard.
Next a person showed us most of the traps they used on the farm and what they caught. Some things they caught were stoats, ferrets and feral cats. There were different traps for different pests. Some of the traps could only be set once and some could go off 24 times without coming to reset. Then we got to see a cow and what it could make with all it´s milk like cheese, butter, calcium etc. And the very last thing they showed us was how they cut lamb what it would and what they used to cut it.

Project Based Learning
This week the teachers chose some people for PBL (Project Based Learning). PBL is when you create a project that can either help the community or just to add to make the school better. My group is Robbie, me and Anroux. Our group name is RAM because it means Robbie, Anroux and Mako. There are also 4 other groups in PBL. We were chosen because we were self-directed learners. A self-directed learner is a person when can manage themselves and their learning. For PBL we decided to make bird feeders and birdhouses.
We decided to make bird feeders and bird houses because we have noticed a lot of hungry birds around that have been eating the scraps off the ground and we are making birdhouses because birds need somewhere to perch when they are tired. PBL goes on till week ten! Because of PBL, we don't have to do our Quick Writes and Word Work. We don't have to do those priorities because they take too long and we wouldn't probably have time to do PBL. Also, I will be updating my blog post every week!
