    The End of Term 4

In term 4 we did just dance and furniture olympics every day. Just dance is when you copy the actions of a video and dance and furniture olympics is when you have to create a piece of furniture made out of people.

We also have been doing kapa haka practise for the whole year and I think we did pretty well in kapa haka because we sounded loud and we moved as a group.Also there was a lot of clapping in the end.

                                                                        I thought athletics was really fun because it tests how fast you can run,throw and jump. The two things I liked doing the most were the two hundred meter sprints and ball throw because I won ball throw and got second in the two hundred meter sprints.  

Also the shade house crew went to the Lands farm. We planted about three hundred plants in just a day. We had also played in the wet for a little and at the very end we did some docking - it was awesome.

Turanganui A Kiwa Kapa haka festival

As Nui syndicate walked onto the Turanganui A Kiwa stage the audience applauded loudly we sang Tu Mai Ra. After that Hunter had said whakapuri and the two front row of boys raced through the rows and we all walked in to make a rectangle shape. Kamoe the Korowai had said. After that the Korowai said Haramai a Paoa Toru Wha. And we sang Haramai a Paoa. After that we sang Ka Pioioi.Then the girls did the poi and the boys sang Puri A Nei.

Utina Mai Toru Wha the Korowai had boomed after Uitina the boys boomed out the words for the Utaina haka while the girls sang Utiaina. After that Hunter said kamo the rest of the boys thundered Hi. And we performed the Haka.Then we sang Wainui E as the girls walked forward through the rows.


Then when we were in a rectangle shape again we sang He Honore as two rows walked off the stage at a time. When I walked of the stage I had felt good because I had try hard and alot of people applauded as we walked of the stage I also felt relieved that Kapa Haka was over.

Japan

Hi everyone I have been in Japan for about two weeks now. It has been awesome in Japan. I will be telling you a few of the things I did.

Plane trip
We had driven to Auckland it took about 6 hours.We had stayed at our Aunts and Uncles for the night and left early in the morning. The plane trip was 10 hours but it only felt like 8 hours! I had watched three movies and played a few video games. The food on the plane tasted delicious.


Pokemon Shop

It had taken one bus and one train to get to the pokemon shop. I had gotten a few pokemon cards and I had gotten a pokemon book to put my cards inside. I had also played a video game but I had lost. In the end I ended up getting charizard and getting a headache.

Disneyland
To get to Disneyland it took a bus and two trains. It was so hot in Disneyland it was about 29C. We had stayed at Disneyland for one night and two days. The thing I loved the most was probably the roller coasters. They were so fun to ride on. There was one called splash mountain it was so phenomenal. But my most favourite roller coaster was space mountain because it was in the dark and it was full of surprises because you couldn't see!

Big Buddha

Big Buddha was first built in 1252. But it was destroyed by strong winds so it was rebuilt in the 15th century. Big buddha was a lot huger than I thought it would be. There was even a thing when you had to put your head in incense and put a coin in a box and make a wish. The city Kamakura where we are now was the capital of Japan from 1192 to 1333. That's why there are so many temples and shrines here. We visited Hase Temple. There was Kannon inside the building but noone is allowed to take photos.

Marae Trip

Last week the whole Nui syndicate and a few year threes from Wai went to Te Poho o Rawiri Marae. When we arrived the tangata whenua welcomed us onto the marae. After the Powhiri they told us a bit about their culture.

After that we had joined in to groups of 8 and did rotations. My most favourite rotation was probably when you had to spin this wooden thing around and it would make the sound of a moth. I also liked the rotation when you had to flip a little wooden tree trunk and make it land on your hand.


For dinner we had nachos it was delicious. After that we had did a haka powhiri in front of a lot of parents. And after that we went to bed. I thought this marae visit was awesome.

Fathers Day

Last Sunday was Father's day. So instead of Basic facts we did a Father's day card. Also the Quick Writes were about Fathers day. So first we had to make a list about all the things we liked to do with our Dads and when we liked to do it. Then we had to do the things you loved about your Dad and why.

The second Quick Write you have to turn the things you wrote on your list into sentences. After that you chose your two most favorite sentences out of the whens and whys and ask a buddy to give you feedback on your sentences. Then we checked it off with our Teacher
and we were done. Here is a finished copy.

  

Cross Country 2019

Cross Country 2019

This year we are doing Cross country. It is a blast because you get to run as fast as you can. It is even better because people cheer you on so you can have a fast finish. The course is at the beach which is good because you get to fell the cool sea breeze.

We have to do 2 big laps around the Cross Country course. My most favorite part of the course is when you go down a big ditch. It is really handy because when you go down you don't really have to do anything your legs just go down. 

Today was the real Cross Country day, I got 4th. I think I could of done better because I didn't try as hard as I could have. If I had tried harder I reckon I would've gotten 2nd or 3rd. Also I usually get 1st or 3rd. 

Cross country

This term we have to do cross country. Which is when we have to run a certain distance. We race in year groups. If you finish within the top five you are selected to go to the interschool's. At the interschools you face the people from other schools who are the same year group as you. If you win out of that, that means you are the fastest kid for your age group. We have been training by doing block run's and going to the actual course. In week 5 that is when we run and see who gets in the top 5. Did you know that our cross country course is at the beach? It is also nice to feel the sea breeze after you have a long run.

Hi this here is one of my quick writes. This week we had to do a hook.You see the word in purple that one of my hook's, a sound effect. Do you see the part in yellow that's the part that i like the most.

Term 2 Reflection

This term we went to the Retro Tech museum. I had learnt a lot of stuff that I would have never known about. My favorite thing was going in the tanks and army truck’s. We also met a guy called Barry he showed us how to work a lot of thing's and told us what they where.
 
We had also went to the Electric Village and got to play with robots and go electric scooters. We had also seen the first car ever made. Best of all there was a motor bike designed only for farms.

I really enjoyed going to the Hamanatua stream. I did weeding and mulching for 1 hour. It felt good to help out the plants and make it look better.

We had also went to the life education truck and learnt about bully's and how to stick up for yourself. We also met herald and played fun games.

Last but not least i got a term achiever. It is a certificate!
